GroupM execs at Telco 2.0

Telco 2.0 is delighted to be working with GroupM, the parent company to WPP’s media agencies, with billings of $60billion.

Rupert Day, their COO, will be a panellist on the ‘Media 2.0’ session at our EMEA event next. We’ll be running an intimate workshop on ‘what’s wrong with mobile marketing and how to fix it’ with his colleagues from Joule and Mediacom on the morning of day three of the event. And we’re delighted to welcome Peter Tortorici, CEO of GroupM Entertainment Worldwide, to join the keynote speakers at Telco 2.0 AMERICA on 9-10 December in Orlando.

Here’s Peter’s biog:

One of the television industry’s most respected executives and involved with some of television’s biggest hit series, Peter Tortorici has served as president of two broadcast networks, taken one of them to “number one”, developed top-rated shows and created new business ventures for some of Hollywood’s most prolific studios and production companies.

Peter was executive vice-president and then president of CBS Entertainment. During his tenure, he was part of a team that guided the network to achieve “number one” status in prime time, daytime and late night schedules for three consecutive seasons, from 1991 to 1994. As president, he was instrumental in developing such Emmy Award-winning series as “Northern Exposure”, “Picket Fences”, “Murphy Brown” and “Chicago Hope”. In addition, he supervised CBS Productions and turned out several highly successful programs including “Touched By An Angel”, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and “Walker, Texas Ranger”.

Later, Peter joined the Carsey-Werner Co. as executive producer. He supervised ongoing production of the company’s network shows such as the Emmy Award-winning “3rd Rock From The Sun” and developed new programs including the launch of “Cosby”. He also created the company’s consumer products division and launched their first online initiatives.

Peter served as president and chief executive officer of Telemundo Network in 1998-99. He crafted and supervised the successful re-launch of the U.S. Hispanic network. He later joined with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia TriStar Television as an independent producer. His Peter Tortorici Productions produced two critically-acclaimed prime time series, “Body & Soul” on Pax TV and “Significant Others” with NBC/Bravo.

Peter joined MindShare and founded MindShare Entertainment in 2003. Currently serving as CEO of GroupM Entertainment Worldwide, he provides global leadership to GroupM’s content initiatives. He has been honoured industry-wide for innovation, leadership and accomplishment in the emerging area of branded entertainment and brand funded content.
