I'm not sure why the ipad would be considered an asset in the classroom. As educators we can too easily be wowed by technological solutions to non-technological problems. I don't think these excessively fragile ipads have anything to offer that educators can't get or create elsewhere, just as well, at a fraction of the cost. Gadgets are not a replacement for competent teaching - nor do they provide a significantly improved user experience in the classroom.
